Between 1995 and 2004, Daniel served as a member and chair of Presbyterian Border Ministries, a joint ministry of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico, which works along the U.S./Mexico border. In 2000, he was a member of a delegation of American Presbyterians who met with Mexican counterparts to draft rules governing the missional relationship between the largest Presbyterian bodies on each side of the border.
Daniel contributes regularly to the San Jose Mercury News and KQED FM in San Francisco, the largest NPR affiliate in the United States. In addition, his writing has appeared in several national and international print and online media outlets, including The Internationalist, Horizons: The Magazine for Presbyterian Women, Beliefnet.com, and TheRevealer.com, and was recommended by The Journal of Higher Education. His columns are regularly syndicated by United Press International’s online religion and spirituality forum.
